Located on the Pacific coast of Central America, between Guatemala and Honduras, El Salvador is making its presence known in the surfing world, gaining attention as a nation for its bounty of incredibly consistent, uncrowded, easily accessible waves. El Salvador is the smallest country in? Central America and the only one not connected to the Caribbean. But, don¡¯t let its geographical limitations be misleading; the country¡¯s 320 km of coastline packs a powerful punch, with more concentration of great waves than anywhere in the Americas, and about half of those being long right point breaks. Toss in the tropical climate, warm water, lack of crowds, incredible accessibility (4-5 hour flight form LA or Miami and most breaks w/in an hour of the airport), safety and you¡¯ve got a destination that is? ready to be surfed.
El Salvador fluctuates between two seasons: a dry season from Nov-April and a rainy season from May-October. During the rainy season, which sees the biggest swells, mornings are typically clear with no wind, followed by day long onshores that let up just in time for the afternoon session, and all capped off by evening thunderstorms. The dry season has smaller waves, very little rain, endless sunny days, and frequent all-day offshores creating ideal conditions all along the coastline.
