ISRAEL ARENIVAR ¡°Fafi¡±
Having turned 18 the same year he wrapped up his first El Salvador Junior National Championship, it¡¯s now time for Fafi to try his hand at the next level. He¡¯s been a fixture at the top of El Salvadoran surf for the last couple of years, every year stepping past someone else to up his ranking, but now is the time to step out a little.? Fafi finished 2007 as El Salvador's top Junior and 2007 and 2008 ranked Second in the Open Division, so we expect a lot in coming years. In his first Open Division ALAS Latin Tour event he surfed to a fifth place finish, so confidence is definitely welling in him.
Fafi¡¯s really only been surfing for six years or so, so his accomplishments stand out all the more and his best is yet to come. We don¡¯t know how long he gets to keep claiming underdog status as he knocks off better known foes, but either way, this kid¡¯s set to surprise some folks. |
